Milky coffee and emails of praise

After a nice relaxing few days out of the office, I was kind of dreading come back to work. Not because I dislike my job (how could I not enjoy interacting with health and safety professionals through our shiny new website?!) No, the reason I was dreading it comes down to emails. Two days away from the office and 376 emails. How is that possible?!!! It took me the best part of the morning sorting through them, although it actually wasn't as tedious as one may have presumed. While sipping my milky coffee I came across many emails congratulating our team on our new website. I underestimated just how good it would feel when real-life users actually praise us mere journos for doing a great job and giving them what they need! Praise indeed...

The launch of HSP

It's been a long time coming, but last week saw the launch of http://www.healthandsafetyprofessional.co.uk/

After months of content-building, technical development and testing (with a few problems along the way) the industry finally has a one-stop shop for all things health and safety, including:
  • A fully searchable archive of articles from Health and Safety at Work magazine
  • A news service which we will update regularly
  • Blogs, discussion forums and a Q&A section where you can join in the health and safety community and benefit from the experience and advice of other users
  • A consultants database, where you can find local consultants specialising in everything from asbestos management to corporate manslaughter– or advertise your services if you are a consultant.
  • Links to our job board, where you can find out about all the latest vacancies and top jobs in health and safety.

We pushed the button to send out passwords to all HSW subscribers and IIRSM members, who have full access to the site, about ten minutes ago, so we're expecting the site to be bombarded with users joining our health and safety community in, ooh, the next ten minutes (hopefully!)

We'd love to hear your opinions of the site. Please send an email to healthandsafetyprofessional@lexisnexis.co.uk and tell us your thoughts.
